If I could recommend one top above all others for a full bust, the D-DD Bralette ticks all the boxes.
Bralettes are a perfect choice of bikini top for the beach. Their simple triangle-based shape complements the natural line of the bust, yet unlike a classic Tri, they have the added stability of being attached to a band.
So how did this evolve to cater for a bigger bust? In a word, support.
Hence the creation of our D-DD Cup Bralette.

We know that a swimsuit is an essential part of your summer wardrobe and with the beach season upon us we are excited to see our newest styles come to life! After months of careful design and fittings they're finally here.
Which new styles am I talking about? Well, let me break them down for you!
Think Baywatch! These styles are definitely making a comeback. In the‘90s higher leg lines were at their peak, designed to create mile long legs. From onepiece's to bikini's this throwback trend is here to stay this Summer.

Can I get some hands up from everyone who's been asking to see bandeaus back?
The Bandeau is back, to start the season we've injected 2 new styles.
In the swings and roundabouts of fashion, the bandeau has taken a back seat to bralette styles in recent years - but no more! Fresh in to launch our collection are The Bandeau Top and Bandeau Onepiece. Both feature over the shoulder straps, that can also be completely detached. With it's centre tie, the onepiece is a flattering fit on all torso and bust-types. The bikini top, is an amazing option if you have strong shoulders, or a wider bust, as the buckle both cinches in the fabric and draws the eye. We can't wait to see these at the beach!

So that's the run down of our new styles from the Jungle Jive and Kokomo collections! But that doesn't mean we haven't made your favourites too. The Hipster, The Brazilian, and team-favourite The Ruche Side Retro bikini pants are all back in both prints!
We plan to let you know more about all our new styles and more, keep checking back and let us know what you think.
You can also join our newsletter for all Finch Swim info.
Until then, see you at the beach!
]]>When our team came together to create our latest collection we had two goals; to go back to our roots and to keep the styles classic.
What are our Finch Swim's roots? That's easy, being based on the Gold Coast, not far from the iconic and beautiful Burleigh Heads beach, we are inspired to make swimwear that embodies the laid-back lifestyle of our surroundings. Swimwear that's fresh, feminine, flattering & embraces the Summer spirit. So, when designing this new collection the styles we wanted to create needed to be a match between style and function that also translates to this way of life.
Thinking about and designing styles is only one part of the process for us. Our next step was to innovate our favourite beach classics with new choices of fabrics, hardware accessories, and a fresh selection of colours and prints. We find doing these all together is the most organic way, as each part can play off and inspire the other. As an example, our Chantik print was a team highlight, though until we brought the cream and tan beads out from our inspo cupboard, we hadn't settled on the styling. With the print design and beads together, however, a bralette, bandeau, triangles and more styles took shape.
As we developed each style, and played with different fabrics and prints, distinct trends could be seen. Natural colours felt so fresh, with reds and burnt spices joining last years' earth tones. Keeping our focus on beach basics resonates so well with the the huge 90's resurgence we're seeing in fashion right now. Plus having sporty undertones is perfect for Finch girls heading to the beach - all function and no fuss here!
Finishing up the creation process meant choosing whether to offer our new styles as sets or as separately, and which of our makers would best bring our designs to life and customer hands. The benefits of close communication and creative input found with our local makers steered us to making over 90% of the collection in Australia. And as with previous years, we couldn't deny that offering our styles separately is what serves our customers best. Choosing your own style and size is important to all of us.
Now, as we release this year's collection online and in select stores we can't contain our excitement. Please keep checking back here as we introduce our new styles and all your favourites in some stunning prints and amazingly fresh colours.

]]>Typically our high Summer choices come in the form of light blues, or maybe a yellow, but this years’ resurgence of natural tones has the Finch team LOVING everything Blush!
Now, I can practically hear your thoughts – Blush? … maybe... not? But hear this; Blush is a great base for multiple looks. If you’ve loved Khaki, keep it fresh with a pop of pink. Feeling some crisp white linen, layer it with a skin-complementing tone. Are you typically a blue-based girl, or working some Navy, subtly contrast it with rosy warmth.
We work tirelessly to get our colours right. This means, colours that look great next to your skin, not on a models’, your skin. So for your mid-Summer colour injection, I have to direct you towards our Summer Romance and French Connection collections.
Both collections feature a blush pallet, which I’m sure you’re now aware is a strategic move. Between the two collections there’s a bevvy of styles and fittings to choose from – including the best-selling Cross Back Onepiece. Have another look through now, and if you’re still unsure about you’re stance on Blush, I HIGHYLY recommend looking at our Indigo colour-base in Summer Romance. It’s the perfect example of mixing your blue-based, navy, colours with the warmth of Blush from the print.

The chic maillot, or tank, shape is a stand out for creating a simple, elegant silhouette. At Finch we feature a higher leg-line to elongate the legs AND for it’s athletic range of motion. A shelf bra and adjustable straps round out this perfect mix of form and function.

At Finch, we love having fun at the beach and while we love trying out new styles we also have favourites swimsuits that we’ve been loving for years. I’m sure you know what I mean, there’s always a top or pant that just does exactly what you need it to every time. Or a colour/print that just WORKS for you. But why we’re enjoying our Finch bikinis year after year isn’t just because they’re great quality and thoughtfully made – it’s also because we follow some simple steps to take care of our swimwear; when we’re wearing it; after we’ve worn it and how we store it.
You also might have seen these steps before – on our swing tags.
Step 1 – Have fun in your swimwear! If nothing else, this is the MOST important step.
Step 2 – rinse your swimwear in fresh water. If you’re wearing it all day, you can regularly rinse under a shower. At the end of your day rinse thoroughly, gentle soap and detergent can be used.
The first, and most important, thing to do is rinse your swimwear! That’s every time you expose it to any potential chemicals, even if it’s multiple times a day. Rinsing gets all the nasties that degrade away from the fabric, and time is important. The sooner you rinse, the less time there is to have an effect. Key nasties are Chlorine and, but also sun block, sun, salt and sand.
Step 3 – Give it a swish around to make sure there are no air bubbles. This is also important if you’re rinsing more than one item.
Step 4 – Drain as much water out as possible, gently squeeze and wring out each piece to remove the rinsing water.
Step 5 – Lay out flat, in the shade, to dry.
You can hang swimwear up, or dry it in the sun, but this isn’t good for the elastic fibres in the fabric. Full disclosure, it can be a hard one to avoid. Even we don’t manage it every time. However, each time you hang out swimwear or leave it out in the sun it will damage the garment a little and make it age faster. This is why we keep it simple on the tag – rinse and lay flat in the shade.
Other tips:
Avoid getting sunblock and creams on your swimwear. The ingredients also have a bad effect on the elastic fibres which leads to damage and premature aging. We try to apply sunblock with enough time to soak in before putting on your swimwear. Alternately, lifting your straps as you rub in the cream to avoid as much contact as possible helps minimise the damage.
Avoid washing swimwear in washing machines as much as possible. The motion and rubbing against other clothes can start to pull threads loose and puts stress on delicate parts of the garment. Rinsing ASAP after use and spot cleaning with small amounts of soap or detergent will keep your swimmers clean, fresh and ready to go.
Try as hard as you can not to leave swimwear wet and balled up, particularly if it’s warm. Left too long and bacteria and mould can find a home and use your bathers as their lunch. If I know it’s unavoidable I always still rinse after wearing and then I can re-rinse them at home ASAP.
I know that there’s a lot of information here, but every little bit will help you to have a long and awesome experience with your swimwear for years to come!
]]>Summer starts now with our French Connection collection. Featuring natural tones complimented with injections of romance and femininity, be comfortable in a truly classic range of bikini separates made locally in Australia!
Coming up to summer this year there is a beautiful, natural inflection of femininity that’s really inspired us across the entire collection. Shades of Latte and Tea Rose bring this gentle, soft energy to life. When designing our collections a lot of time is spent making sure the colours look great on as well as complimenting the styling. Seeing how fabrics look against skin at every stage of the design process is a big focus for us – we aim to create just the exact tone to create a gorgeous natural warmth when you wear our swimwear. In creating the French Connection colours, we were inspired by the golden hour at sunset; when a beautiful blush light makes everything glow. Using colours inspired by nature like blush, sand and gold works brilliantly to complement skin tones, as elements of these colours are already there in your skin.
Both colours in the collection have two layers of fabric to create a soft-focus depth in each garment. We love using a nylon-spandex lace over nylon Lycra for the texture it brings to swimwear. It doesn’t have a rough feel, so when it’s layered over the smooth Lycra it’s more like a very soft 3D print. Further, by using two layers of fabric in complementary tones, there’s even more dimension to work in with your skin tone.
When it came to styling, we wanted to go back to our roots – bikinis. In developing the styles, we focused on keeping the finishes classic and soft. This resulted in soft shoulder straps, lacing details and minimal gold accents.
To complement the Lace Front bikini top and classic Bralette, we created a D cup bikini top with a wider strap and underwire, which is absolutely one of our favourite looks.
We kept the bikini bottoms simple – both with a subtle ruche detail on the back – but essentially a hipster cut at the waist.
We’re so excited to bring French Connection to you! Shop it here.

Finch Swim is passionate about making swimwear that embodies the feeling of summer: the sun, the sand and ocean waves. We are about embracing what living in Queensland is like, rather than a particular type of person. This is clear in our love of gorgeous colour and subtle details, and even more in our exceptional fit and styling.
Based on in Burleigh Heads, we create and design all our swimwear in house. To make this happen we take our inspiration from all over the world and use the best materials we can source.
We want you to be a part of our creative process; our collections, our styles, fabrics, everything! So as we launch our newest collection we'll be posting regularly.
